Hi everyone,
Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve been on the grid. I did some traveling over the holidays, and for once, actually left the camera at home. I was in Rincon, Puerto Rico planning my wedding and visiting with my future in-laws. It was great to surf every day in board shorts. When we got there, Claire’s brother, Colin and I went coconut hunting, so we had fresh baby coconuts to drink all week. For those of you who don’t know, coconut water is nature’s gatorade, full of electolytes, yet no sugar or fat.

Christmas morning Claire and I surprised my family in New Jersey and just showed up on their doorstep. It was great seeing the looks on their faces. The weather change from Puerto Rico to New Jersey in December took some adjusting. It snowed, which was really fun. Snow is one of the few things I miss about the winters back east.

I just got an underwater housing for my camera, which will allow me to expand my style in really fun ways. I am getting started shooting surf photography now, and you can check out the images at yourwave.dotphoto.com
I will do better about writing in the future! Enjoy your week.

Nick

I am on the gulf coast of Florida in the town of Ybor, which is in the city of Tampa. I am here visiting my brother Kevin, its his 30th birthday, and his wife Taylor and friend Joe. This area is so much different than any other place I have visited. The landscape is very flat and there are these pine trees in spots that used to be native to Florida but have all been cut down. Palm trees have taken the place of them now which helps create a tropical vibe. The weather is nice, more hot and humid than the southbay in California. I am really excited it is supposed to rain today, the smell of rain is such a soothing thing. There are zero signs of Gustav the hurricane that just went through the gulf which is a huge relief. Hurricane Ike is on its way but it shouldn’t touch land where we are.

I am excited to head to the beaches around here and get some nice tropical style photos. I think I will be heading there tomorrow. But for today I will be hanging around the city. Thanks for checking in and I will post soon.

Last night was the opening party for my show at Planet Earth Eco Cafe. It was a great turnout. Claire prepared a bunch of food, Heath and Delphina played great acoustic music, and lots of lovely people showed up.

Alot of friends and family came out to support the event. I raffled off a photo that I really love, from Cody, Wyoming. We raised some great money for charity! And to anyone that lives in Hermosa Beach, California, the show will be up for at least another month, and 50% of sales are going to local eco and global humanitarian causes.

Tommy and Christina from Planet Earth were gracious hosts last night, and huge hleps throughout this whole process. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity to work with them.

Last night I was really happy because we have such a strong, local community. Everyone that showed up was into the art, each other, and it was a great atmosphere to be a part of. I had the chance to talk to every single person there.
